Our Language - Where are we headed ?

I've honestly been waiting for a "break" in the action here lately to cover a VERY IMPORTANT subject which I am especially UPSET over.
Nevertheless,
My son forwarded a messgae to me this morning which I have to pass on to you all. It addresses the subject very well, so I couldn't wait!! :

1. Teaching Math In 1950s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit ?

2. Teaching Math In 1960s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?

3. Teaching Math In 1970s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit?

4. Teaching Math In 1980s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

5. Teaching Math In 1990s
A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for th e habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers, and if you feel like crying, it's ok.)

6. Teaching Math In 2009
Un hachero vende una carretada de maderapara $100. El costo de la producciones es $80. Cuanto dinero ha hecho denaro?

NOW, I do promise to cover more on this subject in depth soon! But, I just couldn't pass this one up.

Next up - Pelosi Dances for us !!

Pelosi denies knowing what was going on: "We were not -- I repeat -- were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used,” she told reporters earlier this week. “What they did tell us is that they had…the Office of Legal Counsel opinions -- that they (the interrogation techniques) could be used, but not that they would," Pelosi said.
Despite what is certain to be "undeniable" evidence to the contrary,
our glorius "Speaker of the House" (3rd in line to the Presidency) is quickly finding a way to "re-define" her comments.

A timeline released by the Senate Intelligence Committee on Wednesday said the CIA had told key members of Congressional intelligence panels in the fall of 2002 that waterboarding had been used on three detainees, Abu Zubaydah, Abd al-Rahim al-Nashir, and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

From CNSNews.com:
“This doesn’t have to be a debate,” Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-Mich.) said on Friday. “The documents exist. The records of the meeting exist” and should have been retained, he said.

Hoekstra, speaking on “Fox & Friends” Friday, said the goal now “is to make sure that none of those documents now appear to be missing or that any of those documents are destroyed.”

So.....I guess we continue to watch the show !!??

Kind of reminds me of the show we had when our last Democrat was in office:

Time to Reflect a bit !!

You will love these!

APHORISM: A SHORT, POINTED SENTENCE EXPRESSING A WISE OR CLEVER OBSERVATION OR A GENERAL TRUTH; ADAGE

1. The nicest thing about the future is that it always starts tomorrow.

2. Money will buy a fine dog, but only kindness will make him wag his tail.

3. If you don't have a sense of humor, you probably don't have any sense at all.

4. Seat belts are not as confining as wheelchairs.

5. A good time to keep your mouth shut is when you're in deep water.

6. How come it takes so little time for a child who is afraid of the dark to become a teenager who wants to stay out all night?

7. Business conventions are important because they demonstrate how many people a company can operate without.

8. Why is it that at class reunions you feel younger than everyone else looks?

9. Scratch a cat and you will have a permanent job.
10. No one has more driving ambition than the boy who wants to buy a car.

11. There are no new sins; the old ones just get more publicity.

12. There are worse things than getting a call for a wrong number at 4 AM. - Like this: It could be a right number.

13. No one ever says "It's only a game." when their team is winning.

14. I've reached the age where the happy hour is a nap.

15. Be careful reading the fine print. There's no way you're going to like it.

16. The trouble with bucket seats is that not everybody has the same size bucket.

17. Do you realize that in about 40 years, we'll have thousands of Senior Citizens running around with tattoos? (And rap music will be the Golden Oldies!)

18. Money can't buy happiness -- but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Corvette than in a Yugo.

19. After 60, if you don't wake up aching in every joint, you are probably dead!

Always be yourself. Because the people that matter, don't mind. And the one's that do mind don't matter.

Have a Nice Day !!

JUST OUTRAGEOUS !!!

"Perez Hilton", you're a disgrace to America for your video response to Miss California's answer. You simply became "frustrated" only because she didn't agree with your views !!

When asked by judge Perez Hilton, an openly gay gossip blogger, whether she believed in gay marriage, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, said "We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

When does a beauty pageant contestant have to change her beliefs to placate the "wishes" of any one judge?? And better yet....why does an openly gay gossip blogger have the qualifications to be a JUDGE on such a highly visible event!? Why was this jerk even on the show?

Admittedly, the issue of gay marriage is a "contested" one.

BUT:

Proposition 8 was a California ballot proposition passed in the November 4, 2008, general election. It changed the state Constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to opposite-sex couples and eliminated same-sex couples' right to marry, thereby overriding portions of the ruling of In re Marriage Cases. The measure added a new section (7.5) to Article I, which reads: "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."[1][2][3]

Therefore, was she actually supporting the State's own position??

I'm also disgusted with Keith Lewis:
Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, tells FOXNews.com that he was "saddened" by Prejean's statement.
"As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman," said Lewis in a statement. "I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family."

When does government positions, religious beliefs or his (Lewis's) own personal beliefs have anything to do with another's individual right of freedom of belief and speech??
Who's discriminating here!!!

Anyone for Tea ???

This amazingly clueless "Queen of Snobs" never ceases to amaze us.................

In March 20, 2003, the day after the U.S. invaded Iraq, thousands of people participated in an out of control protest in San Francisco, largely shutting down her district and, in many cases, winding in jail. The loss to the local economy was in the tens of millions from bridges being closed, traffic shut down, riot police, and property damage. Pelosi was a cheerleader at many of these.

Contrast THOSE anarchist-styled protests to yesterday's "Tea Party" assemblies with families, flags, and civil discourse; over 300,000 across the country with hardly a mere traffic ticket involved.

Despite some rude and biased media coverage; our President was "unaware" of these protests???

PELOSI: "What they want is a continuation of the failed economic policies of President George Bush which got us in the situation we are in now. What we want is a new direction. …"

"This [tea party] initiative is funded by the high end — we call call it astroturf, it’s not really a grassroots movement. It’s astroturf by some of the wealthiest people in America to keep the focus on tax cuts for the rich instead of for the great middle class."

"What we want is a new direction" she stated.

It is pretty clear the direction she has in mind..................more Govt., more bailouts, more borrow and spend, and more ignorance of reality.

This is the "CHANGE" we get!

P.S. I wonder if Tim Geithner paid his taxes this time??...or is he still confused?? I sure am!

WHY are we Negotiating ??

Finally its come around to us! With over $80 million paid out to pirates in ransoms over the last year, a U.S.-flagged merchant ship has now been hijacked for the first time in over 200 years!!!

Why do we think this is outrageaous??? We have been "asking for it" for quite some time. Ever since our "politically-correct", liberal-thinking philosophy has become the mainstream of American policy, we could have seen this coming!
Is this what we want??... Or are we just too weak-willed, and too busy to speak up?? Either way, pirates (or any such hostage-taking group) cannot be allowed to feel that they can "negotiate" their way into making a living taking ransom money.
We truly must know and realize that the only deterent to such a way of thinking is for them (the pirates) to feel that "negotiation" is simply out of the question and will not work. Then there will not be any! We used to have a policy of "no negotiations with terrorists"!! What happened here??

Sending in the U.S. Navy is certainly pointless when everyone knows we are NOT going to shot them out of the water....hostage or no hostage.
I would say send the Israelis in and you would get some results.
They have a reputation of standing behind their words!

Is THIS Glass Half Full or Half Empty ?

We know this as a very popular question to ask in order to determine if YOU are an optimist or a pessimist, right??

Either way, the answer is a "bias" which can be either unintentional and incognitive; or it can be intentional, planned and strategic.
Why do I ask this ??
Well.....when it comes to Affiliate Marketing, or just building a home business of any kind; you must be able to understand how to "MAKE" the Glass seem Half FULL!!
You must be able to feel like you CAN'T FAIL!!! Like you are SUPERMAN !!

An interesting statistic showing how one can utilize a "learned" optimistic bias is shown in the fact that MOST newlywed couples will say they believe their marriage will last a "lifetime" even when they are aware of the opposing Divorce statistics.

Another thought for the day:

"What would you do today, IF you KNEW that you couldn't FAIL????

I find it somewhat unusual !!

After hearing about and reading the latest storyline about Obama's Aunt, I just find it somewhat unusual why a man of means (Obama) offers no support or even apparent "concern" for his Auntie Zeituni who, despite now living here illegally, is being supported by Public housing?? It is certainly proper that he (Obama) stay out of the immigration proceedings (which, with millions of similar cases, is obviously bogged down in "overload").
But why, after two turned-down appeals, and now in an illegal status is she still allowed to live in Public Housing??.... and.... Has not Obama offered any support for his "Auntie"?? I'd like to know?

OK... Enough of this stuff!!

I promise that my next post will be back on my regular topic of "WORK-AT-HOME" projects. I promise!!!

Ready or Not...Here it Comes !
